The Holy Spirit in my time of communion brought to my heart the importance of praying earnestly lest I enter into temptation. He reminded me that a temptation is always in line with something we want and desire but are unable to gain and it offers us the possibility of getting it a different way.

That is why Jesus pointed out that we need to pray lest we enter into temptation because we will be moved easily by our desire to plunge right into it. Hebrews.12:1.

Each person’s desire is different so the temptation to each individual is tailor made to reflect your desire. James mentions in James:1:14  that we are dragged away by our own desire and enticed. Then fall into the temptation whose desire is to destroy us not bless us.

The importance of prayer is that we can find the strength necessary to resist the desire to commit the action being requested. Then walk away from the temptation and do the will of God no matter what it requires. Luke.22:41-46.

If we just remember that the temptation is only determined by what we want. We can be conscious of the solicitation and can resist it through prayer. Matthew.26:41.

However if we are blinded by our desire and believe God wants to give us every desire we have then we will continually fall into it and get hurt. Psalm.37:4.

Well today the Holy Spirit wants you to take hold of the strength and grace supplied through these words to stop falling into these snares. As you watch your life begin to win through prayer, the battle over your desires overcoming you. This means that you can walk confidently in the victory Jesus purchased for you.

Remember Jesus was tempted at all points as you are yet without sin. Hebrews.4:15. He never let the desire make Him sin and now He aids us to do the same.

So go in the strength of this word and overcome temptation today and daily through prayer in Jesus Name. Amen.
