The Holy Spirit this morning in my communion time with Him reminded me of the two primary goals of my life and existence. In Proverbs.3:21 from the Passion translation it reads these beautiful words: My child, never drift off course from these two goals for your life: to walk in wisdom and to discover your purpose. Don’t ever forget how they empower you. The Holy Spirit reminded me that to walk in wisdom is far more precious than to walk in billions of money and resources.
Jesus we are told in Luke.2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Jesus the word of God Himself made manifest needed to increase in wisdom which points to the fact that He had to seek it out by posturing Himself to ask it of God with a sincere and willing heart and go for it. “Wisdom must be pursued by the individual who wants it.” “It is not just downloaded automatically.”
“Every increased wisdom I have walked in has come after a hard pursuit for God and what He wants.”
The fact that His wisdom increased points us to the reality that gaining wisdom is an ongoing process which we need to engage with to lay hold of all its benefits. The increase in His wisdom also increased His stature as a man of God in His rightful standing and place on the earth as a major force to be reckoned with.
The favor He had both with God and then men was taken to much higher levels as His wisdom increased and impacted society in far more profound and indelible ways which could not be denied by all who faced Him.
This principle of an increase in wisdom and the knowledge of God is reiterated by the Apostle Paul in Philippians.3:9-11 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
The continual pursuit of knowing God is the major goal of the apostle Paul not the amount of souls he won, the bodies he healed, this is so that Paul’s life would reflect Jesus His Master and not Paul and his ambition as a nation shaker .
Jesus goes on to emphasize this truth again in the book of Revelation when He speaks to John about the Church in Ephesus. Revelation.2:4 & 5 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. Jesus commends them for all the works they are doing but warns them about their pursuit and love of Him diminishing.
Jesus describes it as fallen away from what truly matters and makes clear coming back to that posture and seeking closeness to Him and the wisdom of God the priority not the side issue or they will be removed from the position of light.
We must always remember that Jesus called us first to follow Him not ministry or position but Him and from that position He would make us fishers of men. ”We are not fishers of men without continuing to follow Jesus diligently.” “Our first love, devotion and dedication must be to follow Him to know and understand Him more by being what He wants us to be, not what men want us to do and be for them.”
This must be the primary goal for our lives not how many we reach or save for Jesus but to know Him and have His wisdom being the driving force behind our lives because that will keep us firmly rooted in Him, His nature and Character not the building of our own empires for men to see and glorify us for having built.
“Our pursuit for wisdom and purpose are two goals from which we should never drift because they are the bedrock on which our lives in God are framed.”
Any deviation from that path, for personal goal achieving and following will result in losses of the whole plan of God for our lives and end us up shipwrecked from God’s intention for us unless we can repent.
The Holy Spirit always warns us of impending dangers and paths and places we are walking that are dangerous and seeks to give us a way out to come back into position and line with God’s prescribed way forward.
I pray that as these words touch your heart and awaken your righteous soul back to the place of seeking first the wisdom of the Kingdom which is Jesus and His righteousness then all the other things you need will be added to you.
Don’t seek the other things first, seek a closer union and fellowship with the Holy Spirit to increase your wisdom and you will go much further with deeper insight into what the Lord has assigned for you to do.
May you find the grace of God in these words that will propel you to take action on these words to repent and turn back to having a passionate pursuit of the wisdom of God for your lives. As the apostle Paul prayed emphatically in Ephesians.1 and Colossians.1 for the Spirit of wisdom to direct and determine how we walk out the plan of God for our lives, and not through our ability or gifting.
May the grace supplied by the Holy Spirit today empower you for a much greater and higher service of increased wisdom of God as the purpose of God drives you into the rich fulfilment of God’s ultimate plan for your life in Jesus name. Amen.
