During communion time with the Holy Spirit, He revealed what should be our greatest delight and passion which is imbibing the Character of God and pressing fully into partaking of His Divine Nature.
This call from the Holy Spirit is not merely a casual suggestion to admire God’s blessings, but speaks of a fervent determined pursuit of the very essence of who the Lord really is. Jesus desires that we as His followers should experience all He has secured for us on earth, by walking in the fullness of life He promised He came to give us in John 10:10, and this requires wholehearted pursuit to fully walk in that reality.
The Holy Spirit then drew my attention to Proverbs 18:10, which declares that the Name of the Lord, His character and essence is a strong tower (a place of refuge) and the righteous run into it and are safe.
This imagery emphasizes that the Lord’s character is not a passive place of refuge but a place of active strength and might that produces life. As lovers of the Lord we are not to casually approach Him but we are to run boldly and confidently into His heart, by delighting in the intimacy and finding exaltation there.
The Holy Spirit encouraged me in this process to draw more upon the Lord’s heart rather than relying on our own limited human character which is limited to what we can see.
Even though I have already been aware of many dimensions of the Lord’s immutable fidelity and strength, a much deeper revelation emerged in this time upon how to draw more from His character daily and continually so my life is saturated with all of His fullness.
The heart of the Lord is not to be accessed occasionally in times of difficulty, but intentionally, as our consistent place of strength and productivity concerning all things in life.
The Holy Spirit clarified that true lovers of Jesus always run consistently toward Him wholeheartedly, by giving Him our undivided attention. This pursuit requires an intentional, planned time to be in His presence, free from all human distraction.
Jesus modelled this for us in Luke 5:16, by continually withdrawing to go to remote places to pray and have quality time with His Father. He deliberately positioned Himself in solitude so He could run into the Father’s heart, making it His tower of strength and His consistent place of safety.
From that place of concentrated communion time with the Father through the Holy Spirit came His exaltation and supernatural effectiveness. Jesus moved as an extension of the Father’s hand, by continually performing signs, wonders, and notable miracles.
The Holy Spirit revealed that when we seek the Lord in this way as Jesus did, it will no longer be our weak human character on display. Instead, His character and heart will manifest through us as we yield our bodies as temples for His glory. As Jesus declared in Mark 16:17–18, that signs will follow those who believe and walk in alignment with Him.
There is a profound posture of humility in being invited by the Lord to partake of His Divine Nature, as promised in 2 Peter. 1:4. Yet this privilege requires the position of daily self-denial, as Jesus taught which involves taking up the cross and following Him no matter where He leads us.
This must become a daily practice because the honour and visibility that accompany such manifestations of His presence can tempt us toward walking in pride, which ultimately leads to destruction.
The Holy Spirit emphasized that walking in the character of the Lord surpasses even walking in the operation of spiritual gifts. The gifts are powerful, but the fullness of the Gift Giver, the Holy Spirit Himself working unrestricted through and in us is far greater because it is the Lord working in us as He did with the Apostle Paul in Acts.19:11 resulting in the working of unusual miracles by the hand of Paul.
This aligns with the prayer of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 3:19, where he asks that followers of Jesus to be filled with all the fullness of God, which leads to the reality that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think according to His power at work within us. When it is His power, His thinking, and His doing, there are no limitations.
The call from the Holy Spirit is urgent and requires a deliberate choice to make pursuing the Lord’s character your daily aim. Seek the grace flowing from this word to become what the Lord desires for you to be for His glory. The Lord longs for His Kingdom to be fully manifested through us, with His glory expanding all across the earth as the waters cover the sea.
I exhort you by the Holy Spirit to gird your hearts with truth and pursue diligently the strong tower of His character which represents the place of ultimate rest, strength, and triumph as all things turn out exceedingly, abundantly and above all you ask or think according to His power that works in you.
I declare in the Name of Jesus that you will run into the strong tower of the Lord daily and delight in His character above all else. In Jesus name you will partake of His Divine Nature and walk in the fullness of the life He has promised. Pride will not ensnare you, and distraction will no longer pull you away from intimacy with the Lord.
I decree that as you withdraw from human company to seek His face, the Lord’s heart will become your heart, by causing His strength to become your strength, and His power to become your power.
I declare that you will be filled with all the fullness of God, and through you the Holy Spirit will be able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you ask or think. I decree that His Kingdom will be manifested through your life, and His glory will shine brightly from you, without any limitation in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.
