During my quiet time of communion with the Holy Spirit, while meditating on John.17 a fresh illumination opened in my heart as I reached verse 24. This is the part of Jesus’ prayer where He requests these words on our behalf: “Father, I desire that those You have given Me may be with Me where I am and behold My glory”. It suddenly came alive to me that Jesus wanted us to behold His glory.
I saw clearly that Jesus was not only expressing His eternal longing for His people to share in His glory, but that this prayer had been answered in a unique and profound way in the life of John the Beloved which manifested in the book of Revelation.
As this dawning happened I opened my Bible to Revelation.1, the Holy Spirit confirmed the insight making it clear to me that the Revelation given to John on Patmos was not just merely a prophetic text or symbolic vision but it was the Father granting John access to behold the glory of Jesus in heaven, manifested to him on earth, thus fulfilling Jesus’ very prayer in John 17:24.
Revelation 1:1 highlights that this unveiling came directly from God the Father as a download from heaven, revealing Jesus Christ in His glorified state so John could witness and partake of what Jesus experiences eternally in His glorified position in heaven.
As I continued through Revelation.1 verses 8 and 11 deepened the reality of this revelation as John was reintroduced to Jesus not as the earthly Rabbi he once followed, but as the eternal Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Almighty One who transcends time, who is, who was, and who is to come.
This was the supernatural dawning in John’s heart that the Jesus he loved, served, and followed was eternally Lord God over all creation and, alive forevermore, reigning in the glory He spoke of in John 17.
Jesus then commanded him saying these words: “What you see, write in a book.”
This instruction reinforced that John was encountering something he had never seen before, a glory too vast to hold in his memory alone but would require a written testimony so generations after him could share in the same revelation which Jesus had prayed in John.17.
As the Holy Spirit continued guiding me, through this unveiling verse 12 offered another layer of truth because as John first heard the voice of Jesus, it was only after turning around that he saw the One speaking to him.
The voice of Jesus was like the sound of many waters, breathtakingly overwhelming as the roar of multiple waterfalls demanding a turning of attention and direction to behold its source.
So once John turned, he saw seven golden lampstands and, standing among them, One like the Son of Man clothed in priestly, kingly garments with His countenance radiating with light like the sun shining in its maximum strength emanating from Him.
Through this dawning the Holy Spirit opened my understanding to see that the book of Revelation is not merely a prophetic timeline but it is an answered prayer, a heavenly encounter, a visual unveiling of the glory, and a supernatural invitation into the reality Jesus desired for all His followers to experience here on earth.
The Holy Spirit made it clear that just as John was granted access to see Christ as He truly is in His glorified position. We His followers and lovers today are invited to behold His glory through the Holy Spirit’s illumination of this unfolding of the book of Revelation.
I realized that this entire book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is a gift from the Father in response to Jesus’s intercession in John.17 as a heavenly disclosure meant to draw the hearts of His people into a deeper awe, worship, and fellowship with the glorified Christ.
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that my eyes are being opened by the Holy Spirit to behold the glory of the risen Christ. I step into the answered prayer of John 17:24, and I receive a fresh revelation of Jesus as the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the living One who is, who was, and who is to come.
I decree that I am turning toward His voice, and as I turn, I will see what I have never seen before. I decree the veil is lifting, revelation is flowing freely, and the glory of Christ is being unveiled to my heart.
I declare that the same Spirit who led John into the heavenly realm is leading me into a deeper communion, deeper intimacy, and deeper understanding of who Jesus is and I receive grace to write what I see, speak what I hear, and carry with reverence and faithfulness what is revealed to me.
I decree that I will no longer walk in darkness or confusion, for the Glorified Jesus stands among me as a lampstand and walks with and through me. His voice like many waters flowing in me drowns out all fear, all doubt, and all uncertainty.
I declare that my spirit is aligned with heaven, my heart is awakened to glory, and my life will be a testimony of the revelation of Jesus Christ. Amen.
