The Holy Spirit desires to establish us the followers of Jesus in the unshakable foundations upon which our relationship with the Lord rests. He wants His people to understand the two immutable things upon which our covenant with Him is founded that is truths in which it is impossible for the Lord to lie.

Once these realities are firmly established in our hearts, every contrary voice, accusation, and lie of the enemy is exposed as false and we can build our lives with confidence. As we the followers of Jesus choose to stand upon the Lord’s unchangeable truth, every lie loses its power, and the truth of the Lord’s covenant increasingly manifests in our lives.

The Holy Spirit directed my attention to Hebrews 6:17–20, where the Lord, desiring to demonstrate more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed His promise with an oath so that through these two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie we might possess strong consolation and steadfast hope. This hope serves as the anchor of our soul, by entering beyond the veil into the very Presence of the Lord, where Jesus, our forerunner and eternal High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, has gone before us.

The first vital truth is that this covenant originates entirely from the Lord’s own determination and initiative. Its validity does not depend upon our human performance, personal merit, failures, or shortcomings. The Lord Himself established this covenant for us the heirs of promise because of His unchanging counsel.

Jesus came into the world with the express purpose of accomplishing this work on humanity’s behalf. Although His disciples were scattered when the Shepherd was struck, as Jesus foretold, His resurrection fulfilled His mission completely, restoring what had been lost through His own finished work of dying then being raised rather than through human effort.

The Holy Spirit then revealed that the body and blood of Jesus are the two immutable realities upon which this covenant with the Lord is founded. When Jesus instituted communion, He instructed His followers to partake of it often in remembrance of Him. Luke.22:14-20.

Unlike religious practices built upon outward rituals or human efforts, Jesus generally warned us against reliance upon external acts such as making oaths. However, communion stands uniquely apart because through the body and blood of Christ we His followers continually remember and participate in the complete triumph He secured on our behalf.

Every time as Jesus’s follower we partake of communion, we are reminded of the reality that we are sharing in all that Jesus accomplished for us through His sacrifice. His victory and triumph over death becomes the basis of our confidence, thus enabling us to walk in the fullness of the life He purchased for us. The body and blood of Jesus therefore become the anchor of our souls by stabilising our minds, wills, emotions, and intellect upon immutable truth.

Through His sacrifice, Jesus entered beyond the veil which only the High Priest could enter in the old covenant into the very Presence of the Lord, thus making atonement for humanity and opening unrestricted access into the holiest place in the universe the throne of Almighty God. From this place, we as Jesus’s followers receive every answer, provision, wisdom, and help necessary for life’s challenges. The Holy Spirit urges us as Jesus’s followers to meditate deeply upon these truths until they completely transform our belief system.

Our knowing with certainty who Jesus is and what He accomplished for us establishes us with an unwavering confidence that cannot be shaken by circumstances or accusations. We must remember that the enemy’s primary strategy is to keep us the followers of Jesus deceived through uncertainty concerning our covenant with the Lord. So just as Satan questioned Jesus by saying, “If You are the Son of God,” despite the Father’s clear declaration that Jesus was His beloved Son, he continually seeks to undermine our confidence in what the Lord has already declared.

The strength of our victory is directly connected to how firmly we understand and stand upon our covenant rights with the Lord. The covenant established through the body and blood of Jesus is absolute truth that cannot be denied or revoked. Christ has already secured complete victory and triumph on our behalf, but each of us as Jesus’s followers must personally know and embrace these immutable realities as the anchor of our souls rather than living in uncertainty or doubt.

The Holy Spirit therefore calls for us the followers of Jesus to move beyond hesitation and reservation to fully establish our confidence in these two immutable foundations. Communion is presented by the Holy Spirit not merely as a church ordinance observed occasionally but as a continual remembrance of Jesus’ finished work on our behalf. Since Jesus instructed us His followers to partake often, this remembrance is intended to become an ongoing source of strength, stability, and spiritual refreshment throughout our daily lives.

Personally partaking of communion has become a daily practice in my serving the Lord as a continual reminder of the Lord’s unchanging covenant towards me and the finished work of Christ. By anchoring my soul each day in the body and blood of Jesus, the certainty of the Lord’s faithfulness remains firmly established in me, thus providing continual confidence, rest, and victory regardless of outward circumstances.

This revelation of encouragement concludes by expressing the expectation that the Holy Spirit will continue unfolding the many covenant benefits secured through Christ’s body and blood in as you continually partake them, thus enabling followers of Jesus to understand more fully what Scripture says has been made available to them through Jesus and our privilege of being made to sit with Him in heavenly places to experience all of His authority.

May the Holy Spirit firmly establish your heart upon the unchanging foundations of the Lord’s covenant revealed in Hebrews 6:17–20. May the reality of the body and blood of Jesus become the immovable anchor of your soul, by bringing continual stability to your mind, your will, your emotions, and your intellect and understanding. May every accusation, doubt, fear, and lie of the enemy lose its power over you as the truth of Christ’s finished work rises within your heart.

May you walk with an unwavering confidence in the covenant secured for you by Jesus, as you rest in the certainty of His victory and His continual intercession for you as your eternal High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek. May your faith be strengthened, your hope remain continually steadfast, and your life increasingly reflect the triumph that Christ has already accomplished on your behalf in the name of Jesus. Amen.
