The word ‘Ensign’ according to the Bible dictionary means; a sign, and a signal. In terms of appearances, it is a symbol like a flag, a beacon, a mark, or an evidence of something.
The Bible explains the idea of an Ensign as God used it, as a distinguishing mark, a banner lifted up, a memorial of something great and meaningful, a miraculous sign of God, a proof of something bigger than yourself, and larger than life, and a visible standard that becomes a rallying point.
When a human is described as, or becomes an Ensign, they are a standard-bearer for something (in this case, for the Lord). They are a living, visible, and mobile SIGN and WONDER to others around them, and a proof of God’s existence, His power, sovereignty, and faithfulness. They are shining beacons for God; His lighthouse for others they meet.
An Ensign is GOD’S EXHIBIT of His power over obstacles, life’s most difficult challenges, and the enemies we see, and do not see.
