In this morning’s communion time, the Holy Spirit encouraged us as followers of Jesus to expect the Lord to act in ways that completely defy natural circumstances, thus revealing His limitless power as the Creator and Owner of all things. The Lord desires His people to have testimonies that display His magnificence and cause others to marvel at His intervention and faithfulness towards us. As declared in Isaiah 43:19, the Lord is continually doing new things, and according to Isaiah 52:15, His works are so extraordinary that they leave people astonished.

The Holy Spirit emphasised the fact that the Lord specialises in bringing beauty out of the most hopeless situations steeped in ashes. Throughout Scripture, some of the greatest demonstrations of the Lord’s power emerged from the darkest and most impossible circumstances.

The accounts found in Judges chapters 6–8 reveal how the Lord repeatedly transformed weakness, insufficiency, and apparent defeat into overwhelming victory, proving that His solutions are never limited by human reasoning.

A foundational truth the Holy Spirit highlighted is found in Romans 4:17, where the Lord is described as the One who “gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” The Lord does not focus on impossibilities, obstacles, or visible limitations. Instead, He sees His ability to intervene, create solutions, and bring life where none appears possible. His perspective is always centred on His power to create anything rather than our circumstances.

The Holy Spirit then pointed to the account of Jairus’ daughter in Mark 5:38–43. When Jesus arrived at Jairus’ house, mourners were weeping and convinced that the child’s death was final. Yet Jesus declared that she was not dead but sleeping.

His statement was met with ridicule and scorn because those present only saw the situation through natural eyes. Jesus then removed the doubters from the room and demonstrated the reality of the Lord’s perspective by commanding the girl to arise. Instantly, death gave way to the life which flowed from Jesus.

This account illustrates that Jesus always views situations through the lens of resurrection and life rather than defeat and death. The Lord sees possibilities where people see endings. The Holy Spirit challenged us as Jesus’s followers to consider whether we are willing to allow Jesus to remove doubt and unbelief from our environment so we can receive the miracle He intends to perform. The miracle itself becomes its own testimony, often speaking louder than any explanation of Jesus we can offer.

The Holy Spirit further highlighted the season of national crisis recorded in 2 Kings chapters 6 and 7. Israel faced a devastating famine so severe that people resorted to unimaginable measures for survival. Yet in the midst of that crisis, the prophet Elisha boldly declared in 2 Kings 7:1 that within twenty-four hours the Lord would completely reverse the situation and abundance would replace scarcity.

One official unfortunately doubted the Lord’s ability to perform such a miracle and questioned whether it could happen even if the windows of heaven were opened. Elisha responded that the man would witness the miracle but would not partake of it because of his unbelief.

The Lord then fulfilled His promise through an unexpected means in which He used four lepers who unknowingly became instruments of divine intervention. The Lord did not need to open heaven visibly because He simply needed to move ordinary people into position in order to accomplish His purpose. This prophecy was fulfilled exactly as spoken, demonstrating that the Lord can reverse even national disasters overnight.

The Holy Spirit stressed that we as Jesus’s followers must learn to view situations from the Lord’s perspective rather than through the lens of human limitation. The severity of a problem does not determine the Lord’s ability to solve it. What seems impossible to man is a small matter for the Lord. Too often, people place limitations on the Lord, just as Israel repeatedly limited the Holy One. The Lord is calling His people to remove those restrictions and embrace the reality of His limitless power.

This truth is reinforced by Ephesians 3:20, which declares that the Lord is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think according to His power working within us. The Holy Spirit desires us to adopt this as our new framework for life by expecting far more than we can imagine because the Lord’s capacity to do far exceeds our human expectation.

The Holy Spirit also referenced Isaiah 54, which encourages us as followers of Jesus to enlarge our capacity to believe and to become responsive to the greater dimensions of the Lord’s miraculous power. Our faith must expand to accommodate the magnitude of what the Lord desires to accomplish.

Finally, the Holy Spirit returned to the account of the feeding of the five thousand in John 6. where Jesus asked Philip where bread could be found to feed the multitude, not because He lacked a solution, but because He was testing Philip’s faith while already knowing what He intended to do.

Jesus then multiplied the five loaves and two fish to feed thousands, with an abundance remaining afterward. This miracle reveals that the Lord is never constrained by limited resources. What appears insufficient in human hands becomes more than enough when placed in the hands of Jesus.

The overarching message of the Holy Spirit is clear that we as Jesus’s followers must abandon our small expectations, remove limitations from our view of the Lord, and embrace His perspective of limitless possibility. We must remember that the Lord is able to transform impossible situations, reverse longstanding crises, multiply scarce resources, raise what appears dead, and bring sudden turnarounds that glorify His name and advance His Kingdom on earth to the glory of the Father.

Today, I declare that every limitation you have unconsciously placed upon the Lord is being broken off you now by the revelation of Jesus’s greatness. May the Holy Spirit enlarge your faith and align your vision with Heaven’s perspective. May you see beyond the circumstances and recognise the limitless power of the Lord who always gives life to the dead and calls things that do not exist as though they did (Romans 4:17

I declare that impossible situations will become platforms for extraordinary demonstrations of the Lord’s glory. May sudden turnarounds, supernatural provision, divine multiplication, and miraculous interventions become part of your testimony. As the Lord did for Jairus, for Israel in famine, for Gideon, and for the multitude fed by Jesus, may He act on your behalf in ways that astonish both you and those around you.

May your capacity to believe be enlarged according to Isaiah 54, and may you walk in the reality of Ephesians 3:20, by experiencing the Lord doing exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ask or think. May you see beauty arise from ashes, provision emerge from lack, victory come from apparent defeat, and resurrection life triumph over every circumstance that has opposed the God’s purpose for your life.
