A clarion call to stay in the Truth Lane.
In my communion time with the Holy Spirit, He reminded me of how Jesus taught His disciples to approach the enemy. Jesus never taught them to live in fear of what satan could do but instead, He emphasized what the Lord would do to protect them and keep them from the works of the devil. Jesus’ greatest concern was that His disciples would not be deceived.
In Luke 21:7–9, when the disciples asked Jesus about the signs of the end, He first warned them to: “Take heed that you will not be deceived.” This statement shows us that guarding our hearts against deception is more important than becoming preoccupied with the activities of the enemy. Many voices will arise, but our responsibility is to remain steadfast in the truth.
The Holy Spirit then took me to Jeremiah 17:9–10, which says these words: “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind…” Therefore because the heart can be deceived, we cannot depend solely upon ourselves to remain in the truth. So we desperately need the Holy Spirit continually guiding us into all truth.
Genesis 3:1–5 shows us how deception entered the earth through a voice that contradicted what the Lord had said. satan’s strategy was not merely force, but it was the deception he used that caused man to believe a lie and act against Lord’s command. The Holy Spirit reminded me of the time when He spoke to me concerning the fact that I needed to repent of all the wrong desires I had carried from childhood.
From that experience I understood that the enemy would attempt to bring the fulfilment of those desires at a strategic moment in my walk with the Lord to lure me away from the Lord’s purpose. Soon after that conviction from the Holy Spirit, someone connected to one of those old desires contacted me with an opportunity that could have drawn me back into what the Lord had delivered me from.
Because the Holy Spirit had already warned me through the word of dealing with past desires coming to fulfilment, I recognized the danger and refused to engage with it. That experience taught me a true fact of life that not everything we desire is something the Lord wants us to receive. A fulfilled desire can become a trap if it takes us outside the Lord’s purpose for our lives. This is why we must remain humble and dependent upon the Holy Spirit.
Jude 24 reminds us that the Lord is able to keep us from falling, and 1 Peter 1:9 points us toward the fact that the salvation of our souls is the end of our faith, which reveals the fact that the complete transformation of our inner life which involves our mind, will, intellect, and emotions must come increasingly into total alignment with the mind of Jesus.
I have made a quality decision to remain faithful in this work of salvation, by continually surrendering to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to guide me into all truth. So today, guard your hearts and don’t let fear of the enemy become greater than your confidence in what Jesus has accomplished on your behalf.
Do not allow under any circumstance an old desire, an attractive opportunity, or a persuasive voice to move you outside the truth. Stay rooted in the truth lane by letting the Holy Spirit search your heart, to expose all deception, then correct your inordinate desires, and guide you into the path the Lord has prepared for you.
I declare that your heart is steadfast in truth and every deception seeking to divert you from the Lord’s purpose is exposed and loses its influence over you in Jesus name. I declare that you will not exchange the Lord’s plan for any temporary satisfaction because the Holy Spirit is guiding you into all truth and preserving you from every hidden trap of the enemy.
I declare that you will walk in the truth that makes you free. So deception will not abort the Lord’s purpose for your life and you will walk in the pleasantness, peace, and rich fulfilment Jesus has ordained for you, and your life will glorify His name in Jesus’ name. Amen.
