This message is a strong and practical exhortation from the Holy Spirit, emphasising the necessity of keeping the Word the Lord has spoken over your life at the very centre of our hearts and daily lives.
It warns us that if we do not remain anchored in His specific instructions, we can gradually find ourselves drifting off course and ending up in places we never intended, simply because we allowed human distractions and opposing influences to steal the Word from our hearts and thus alter our direction. This truth is grounded in Hebrews 2:1–3, which calls for diligent, engaged attention to what we have heard from the Lord so that we do not drift away.
A key emphasis of this message is the importance of actively engaging with the Holy Spirit through asking the right questions. Asking the Holy Spirit why we missed the mark is not a sign of weak faith, but a genuine pursuit of clarity and truth of our position in spiritual matters.
It positions us to understand exactly what the Lord requires of us in the process, rather than us living on assumptions or incomplete understanding of what we are supposed to do. This kind of honest inquiry always brings true alignment with the Lord’s will and prevents us making repeated errors.
This message highlights the example of Peter in Mark 11, who uniquely observed and then questioned Jesus about the withered fig tree. While the other disciples witnessed the same event, only Peter asked the Lord about it and it was through his question that Jesus revealed a profound principle of faith.
From that moment came the teaching that faith-filled words can move mountains in our lives, and not just trees. This reality demonstrates that revelation often follows divine inquiry. Jesus both demonstrated the supernatural by (“showing”) and then explained it by (“telling”), but only when prompted by a genuine question looking for understanding the process. Without Peter’s curiosity, this vital Kingdom principle may not have been revealed in that moment.
This fact leads to a broader insight of how many followers of Jesus miss deeper truths because they do not ask the relevant questions when they observe the miraculous at work.
This message urges followers of Jesus to observe carefully and inquire diligently, even the smallest, overlooked details which contain life-changing revelation. Through the right questioning, the Holy Spirit always provides understanding that goes beyond our natural reasoning and unlocks the full meaning of spiritual realities.
Another example the Holy Spirit referred to is drawn from Judges 15:14–20, where Samson, after a great victory empowered by the Holy Spirit, became so desperately thirsty and had to cry out to the Lord for water. This illustrates that even when the Lord is aware of our needs, He requires us to ask Him for provision.
The principle of “asking, seeking, and knocking” is reinforced by Jesus in Luke.11:9-13 which shows that we must initiate interaction with the Lord through communication, and He responds back to us with provision and divine intervention.
Through this message I share more personal insight into how asking the Holy Spirit questions led to me having deeper understanding of Scripture, particularly in the Epistles. It revealed to me the fact that many promises in the Word are contextual and conditional, and always addressed to a specific group of people who met certain spiritual criteria.
Not all believers of followers of Jesus will experience all promises of the Lord automatically demonstrating that correct alignment, spiritual maturity, and obedience to the voice of the Lord often determine our necessary participation to inherit those benefits.
An example the Holy Spirit used was the Corinthian church, which, due to walking in carnality and compromise, was not positioned to walk in certain spiritual realities like spiritual warfare victory described in the letter to the Ephesians who were faithful in both faith and love which are prerequisites for operating successfully in the Kingdom. This highlights a sobering truth that misunderstanding or simply ignoring spiritual conditions can lead to lack of results, even when you know the promises of the Lord.
Ultimately, this message calls for followers of Jesus to develop a disciplined lifestyle of spiritual attentiveness and inquiry of the Lord by holding fast to the Word spoken by the Lord, through asking the Holy Spirit for clarity in every area of life, thus making all the necessary adjustments to remain aligned with His will. This posture always leads to accurate navigation, avoidance of pitfalls, and a life marked by peace, purpose, and fulfilment of the Lord’s will for your life.
This word of encouragement concludes with an invitation to let these truths ignite a renewed passion in you to pursue the Lord more intentionally by asking the right questions, faithfully seeking His direction, and walking in the clarity and grace He provides.
As this becomes a daily practice in your life, as a follower of Jesus you will remain on course and experience the fullness of what Lord has planned and purposed for you to accomplish for His kingdom on earth.
Today, in the name of Jesus I declare that the Word of the Lord will remain firmly rooted at the centre of your heart, and you will not drift from the path the Lord has set before you.
I decree that every distraction sent to steal your focus is being removed, and your spiritual sensitivity is being sharpened. I declare that you will ask the right questions, and the Holy Spirit will give you clear, precise answers that bring the necessary understanding and direction you need.
I declare that revelation will flow to you as you seek Him, and you will walk in that truth that produces results. In the name of Jesus every mountain standing before you will be removed as you align your words and faith with the principles of the Kingdom.
I declare that you will no longer miss the mark through confusion or assumption, but you will walk in clarity, accuracy, and obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide you into paths of pleasantness and peace, and your life will reflect the wisdom and power of the Lord at work within you in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
